Death Plateau

The true golden era.

Built on the original 2006 cache, so the world, the models and the interfaces are the ones you remember rather than a modern reconstruction of them. 109 quests and all 23 skills, with the best of what came later let in only where it earns a place.

Free, and there is no shop — nothing in the game is for sale, so nobody is ahead of you for paying. You will want an account first; the launcher keeps the game in ~/.deathplateau and updates itself.

How this server is decided

2006 is the baseline. Everything after it has to earn a place.

Two rules, and they settle almost every argument. Where 2006 and Old School disagree about something that already existed in 2006, 2006 wins — a quest plays the way it played, not the way it was reworked a decade later. Where the content came after 2006, it is let in only if it gives you somewhere to go without flattening the game you came back for.

Let in

Gives you a reason to log in without making 2006 pointless.

  • God Wars DungeonBandos and Armadyl armour — strong, but a long way off and worth the trip
  • Zulrah and the KrakenTridents, the serpentine helm, the toxic blowpipe
  • The abyssal tentacleAn upgrade to a whip you still have to earn first
  • Dragon warhammerOff a drop, and a spec that opens a boss up rather than ending the fight
  • Weapons off the drop tablesHill giant club, dragon sword, Belle's folly, the arkan blade

Left out

Would end 2006’s progression the week it arrived.

  • Dragon clawsA spec that decides a fight before it starts
  • Twisted bowTurns every boss into the same fight
  • Scythe of ViturRaids gear in a world with no raids
  • Torture, anguish, occultFlat damage that makes 2006's jewellery worthless
  • Primordial, pegasian, eternal bootsThe same problem, lower down the kit
  • Avernic defender, ferocious glovesNothing left to want from the 2006 game

Both columns are read out of the game’s own object list, last checked 2026-11-02. If anything on the right ever arrives, it will be because it earned a place, not because it was next on a list.

Why this one is different

Every quest is played to the end before it ships

Most servers ship a quest once the dialogue reads correctly. Here every one is played start to finish on the real map — click the door, walk the leg, fight the thing, take the reward. A quest does not go out until it can be completed without a single step going wrong, and it is checked again every time the build changes.

109 / 109

Quests completed

The long ones included: Legends' Quest at 229 steps, Recipe for Disaster at 253, Monkey Madness, Desert Treasure.

0

Script errors

The content tree compiles clean, and has since October. A broken script cannot reach the live world.

377

Original cache

Quests are rebuilt from the 2006 cache itself rather than from a modern wiki's summary of them.

Nightly backups

Every account and save copied off the box each night. Your bank is not one disk away from gone.

Still in testing. Every account will be reset when the server launches properly — including the one you are about to make.

Plain about the state of it. A 2006 server rebuilt from the cache is a large amount of work and some of it is still rough. The quests are checked step by step; the world around them is not, so expect to find things.

Reporting a bug gets you thanked and credited in the notes. Abusing one gets the account banned. That is the whole policy.

A name, a password, and you are in Lumbridge.

No email, nothing to pay, and the account works the moment you make it. Found a bug on the way? ::bug what happened in game.
